| Bio: | OOC Name: Robyn, or Pasty Age: 18 Email: robynjl2002@aol.com AIM/MSN/YIM/Other: robynjl2002 Previous RP experience(if you have none, give me an example of your writing): I play henry in the tricity_random community, but I'm relativly new to RPs. It's a part of csitricityslash but I havent posted in that yet. What kind of daiquiris do the mods like?: Banana of course! IC Name: Caleb Mansfield Age/DOB: 17 11/25/90 Gender: Male Sexuality: Says he's straight but knows he isn't Physical Description:He's just shy of 6', he has short black hair that he does his best to keep down, he's skinny and scrawny with blue eyes Personality: Caleb is very timid, takes orders extremely well and often forgets to take care of himself despite being responsible enough to cover for his older sister and take care of his 6 younger ones. What he does often contradicts what he wants to do. He does his best to be a good boy and do everything that is expected of him when really he just wants to rebel and cause mayhem (it's unlikely that he'll ever cause real mayhem when he has issues leaving the toothpaste uncapped. He loves history and he loves writing about it. He is an amazing singer, but he won't admit it and denys it whenever someone tells him so. Very docile, selfless, never arrogant (even when he deserves to be) and desperatly wants friends. He also wants friends that are so close to him that they give him nicknames that only they can use, and they know almost all his secrets (including his secret location of his chocolate stash). Caleb could never get a hold on cooking foods more complex then mac and cheese (side note LOVES mac and cheese), he also can't sew beyond patching clothes. He can't paint and he hasn't seen many movies. He loves to read but being the "responsible one" among 8 kids makes it hard for him to get any real reading done. Caleb tries to be short and dislikes being so tall. He also dislikes his eyes, he'd rather have some darker color that blended with his hair and complexion and didn't pop out everytime he wore blue. He knows that theres alot of things wrong with what is going on in the country but he refuses to vocalize them. Mainly because he was raised by a pharmacist and an extremely Catholic couple. He hates getting presents on Christmas and his uncle Jeff has taken up the habit of giving his nephew his gifts on his favorite holiday; Thanksgiving! And since his birthday also often falls on thanksgiving he gets two presents from his (never stingy) uncle. History (Please write at least four/five paragraphs here. You're starting this character from scratch this is the place to flesh him/her out): The stormy night he was born on was the exact oppisite of the personality he devolped. His father, Patrick Mansfield, was extremely happy to have a boy so shortly after having his first daughter Rebecca. His mother Emma swore that she would never go through labor again. Then had six more daughters in the next ten years. Almost as soon as he could walk he became the caretaker of the bunch. As Rebecca preened and was adored by all as much as the youngest daughter Angela, Caleb took on the job of taking care of Faith, Hope, Grace, Destiny and Prudence. His childhood wasn't unhappy but he was vaguely dissatisfied with the way his life was going. His family was a strong Catholic family and every week his family would meet up with his father's young brother Jeffery to listen to his mother's older brother's sermon. Afterwards the entire family would have lunch at the same table in the church basement after the rest of the congregation had left. The time spent with his uncle Jeff (who is just 10 years older then him and looks exactly like him) is the closest to happiness that Caleb feels. His uncle Jeff doesn't care if he eats a bit more chocolate then usual, or if he doesn't go out for the lead in choir. As long as Caleb is happy then Jeff is happy. As a result Caleb would often ask if he could spend sunday afternoon with Jeff. Caleb liked being a Catholic but sometimes he felt like he was a bad person because he didn't tell the priest every sin he commited when he confessed. He could never get past the fact that on the other side of the vestibule was his strict uncle Rick who would often glare down the table whenever he put his elbows on the table. Besides those afternoons his only freedom from his sisters was school, an all boys school. When he was 8 years old just after Prudence was born (the early years of his life were often refered to in respect to who had been born at that time)his mother started crying alot and his father began to look weaker. He heard words like "chemotherapy" and "malignant" whispered between the adults as they settled the children down to dinner and brought the food to the table. Then on his 10th Christmas they buried Patrick who was only 36, and 7 months later his devestated mother brought Angela into this world. The pharmacutical company that his father worked for had given him good insurance coverage almost enough to take care of 8 children. To make up the diffrence their mother began to wait on tables at the nearby diner and uncle Jeffery moved into an apartment in the attic to give Emma support. Caleb felt the pressure of taking care of his sisters more then ever. He worried constantly about them, and he gave up lots of oppurtunities to go out with his aquaintances at school in order to take care of his sisters. He could no longer escape to his uncle's apartment on sundays because who would watch the girls? It wasn't until his 9th grade year that he got more then five minutes of alone time. The sister who ran choir had heard from Uncle Rick that Caleb sang wonderfully. She all but begged him to join choir which he did willingly. It was in choir that he actually made friends. He was no longer "that quiet boy in the corner of the cafeteria", he associated with people. He even went to a birthday party! He still had the tendancy to hunch over and try to become shorter and less noticible then he was whenever the attention wasn't on him. When it was, he stammered and did his best to respond minimally. Despite his shyness, he enjoyed choir and he also enjoyed getting the solo. But in his sophmore year a problem arose, that problem was named Travis Harrison. Caleb always wanted to be around Travis or near him, he would stare at Travis whenever he thought no one was looking. Then late one night he had a ... in depth dream about Travis. The next day he quit choir to distance himself from the boy. He didnt tell anyone he had quit choir and used the time he would have been at practice to sit in a nearby park and write historic short stories. One day Jeff found him in said park. Jeff (being an intuitive uncle) asked Caleb what was wrong. Caleb could only say one thing "I wanted to kiss a boy." Jeff didn't hit him or damn him to hell or shriek in outrage. He instead sat next to the frightened teen and explained that its okay for some guys to like other guys no matter what the Bible or the goverment says. Jeff went on to tell Caleb that he was begining to think that the young teen had too many responsiblities and wasn't spending enough time exploring himself. Jeff reached into his pocket and pulled out a piece of paper and simply told Caleb "I was begining to worry about that and I tried to find a bording school or something that you could go to and just... be a teen. You can't spend your entire childhood taking care of others. Read about this school, then think about what you want to do. Not me, not your mom, not father Rick. You." Jeff placed the paper with the heading "Goldfinch Academy" in the boy's lap and left him to choose his life, for a change. Student/Faculty (please list position eg. Math Teacher, English Teacher, Cafeteria worker etc): student List of Classes (must have seven if student/four if teacher): Creative Writing, Ancient Civilizations, Chemistry, Pre-Calculus, Latin 1, Home Economics, Pottery. List of Clubs (optional): Boys A Capella, History club List of Sports (optional: Have you asked us to hold your PB?: yes IC AIM: myownlifelived Sample Writings: IC Journal Example (at least 150 words, 1st person, can be linked in from your journal): Hello, nice day outside, but how would you know? You're a journal. This isn't the point. I may be going a little crazy. Today during my "me time" at the park (my favorite one, the one that used to be a Potter's field) I was given a big choice to decide on. Not "oh should Faith get the doll or should Hope?". It was big. What happened was I was looking at that statue for lost soliders when Uncle popped out of nowhere. He asked me what was wrong and I told him about the incident. You know, the incident I said I'd never think about again but I'm thinking about right now. He went into what I fondly refer to as "dad mode" (he's gunna be a great dad when he finally marries and reproduces with Shelly). He gave me a paper and told me I should try and be a teen. I read the paper, its about some school where kids can make choices. It sounds amazing. I googled it when I got back to the house (and removed Destiny from neopets), they have an amazing curriculum and the school looks gorgeous and everyone looks happy. Not fake happy like the phamplets for vitamins, but real happy. Like when ever mom gets a birthday card from one of us. My sophmore year just ended and as I don't want to go back to a school with that temptation nearby. Before I realized it, I had it half filled out. I mean, I think mom can get by now with Rebecca gone and Shelly (who was "kicked out" by her old roomie and "desperatly needed a place to stay" with Uncle Jeff, I dunno if mom actually fell for that or not), and I am almost 17 with no life to speak of. Maybe I should just go and check it out this summer. Also referring to aformentioned temptation, Uncle Jeff said that theres boys that like boys and before the crash it was okay to like boys. He also says it's okay to like boys now because the goverment isn't always right. I'm not sure what to feel about this, so I'm just gunna mull on it for awhile. I'm getting really psyched about this school. like "OMG OMG OMG I CANT WAIT!!!!!" Psyched. I wonder if I would have a roomie? and would he be some ubercool ninja like person who could go to history club with me? they have a history club there too by the way. I don't think I can stop myself from wanting to go. Oh man. Prudence just got sick and mom isn't home yet. I gotta go deal with this. I'll write more on the subject later. and I am not thinking about the temptation's new piercing that I saw at lunch today. It is not the coolest and hottest thng ever to have a lip piercing if you're a boy. IC Log Example (at 150 words, 3rd person): As Caleb shut his hand-me-down flowery laptop, he did his best to push the image of the temptation raising his arms up to catch a football from one of his friends and the glint of the piercing almost blinding him from across the cafeteria. He forced his mind to return to the school as he picked Prudence up from the floor. Another bug going around the elementary school, he'd have to pray that Angela and Destiny don't get sick as well. He laid Prudence down in her room that she shared with the other 2 youngest Mansfields. He pinky promised to bring her ginger ale and soup so she would get better sooner. He then ushered Faith, Hope and Grace into their room so that he could clean the living room. He vaguely yearned for the days when they didn't shoot glares at him when he told them what to do. His sisters were getting older. Most of them could cook the same small things he could do, and they could clean up after them selves. He quickly mopped up the mess and made some campbells soup for Prudence that he gave to her as he went to his own room. By far the smallest of the three rooms on the second floor, with a flimsy divider that showed the once duct-tape line between his side and Rebecca's side. As he laid there and looked up at his glow in the dark jupiter on his ceiling he imagined a life where his sisters didn't nag him at every turn and he didn't have to hear personal conversations between his sister and her "just a study partner!" friend. A world where he was foot loose and fancy free. 'Maybe a world where it was okay to want to gently bite the lower lip of a gorgeous boy?' he thought to himself before he could stop. A fierce blush appeared on his face as the familiar sense of guilt curled in his belly. No, he was a good brother and a good son. He would take care of these girls until he went to college and he would intimidate any boy they dated. He wouldn't date boys. He'd find some nice girl from the catholic school that all his sistets attend, he'd settle down, get married and he would enjoy it. ... unless of course, his mother thought it would be okay for him to go to this school, then he wouldnt have to tend to 6 demanding girls, and he could find a ... nice non-Catholic school girl... maybe. Definitly not a boy, even if uncle Jeff says its okay. | |||||||||
